About us
Over a decade in the field, one idea throughout
Energy is only useful at the last mile when it powers a livelihood. Everything we build starts there.
Our story
A hard problem became a platform
Devidayal Solar Solutions® started in Mumbai in 2015 with a narrow, difficult problem: refrigeration for places without reliable power. Cold storage is the hardest load an off-grid site can run. It cannot switch off, and when it does, the stock inside is lost. Solving it forced us to get good, early, at DC technology, solar-first sizing and battery storage.
Our first solar DC refrigerator reached customers in 2017: fish sellers, milk collectors and shopkeepers who had been losing stock to power cuts. In 2020 we delivered our first export project.
Talking to those customers taught us that the fridge was rarely the barrier. The upfront price was. So we built payment control and remote monitoring into the hardware, so that a lender could finance it with confidence. From then on, financing was part of the product.
The same building blocks (DC motors and drives, solar-first sizing and storage) turned out to run much more than fridges. They took us into flour mills and oil expellers that run on sunlight instead of diesel, and then into designing and installing complete solar systems for health centres, schools and rural businesses. Three businesses now, one idea underneath them.
What we stand for
Our mission: put solar power to work wherever it earns someone a living
Livelihood first
We start from the work the machine has to do: the catch to keep cold, the flour to grind, the clinic to power. We size the equipment to that work.
Hardest site first
We design for the village three hours from the highway, with no grid and no technician nearby. If it works there, it works anywhere.
Fair finance
Many of our customers are borrowing for the first time. We keep down payments low, terms clear and EMIs matched to how their income actually arrives.
Measure honestly
We publish outcomes with the name of whoever measured them, and we say which figures are our own. If something is not working in the field, we would rather know.
