Adopting Customer-centric Approach to Improve Livelihoods

Adopting Customer-centric Approach to Improve Livelihoods

Around 55% of workers worldwide are self-employed, and about three-quarters of these are likely to be subsistence entrepreneurs.

Subsistence entrepreneurship is defined as entrepreneurial actions undertaken by individuals living in poverty. By virtue of being economically backwards themselves, they are part of the same community as their customers living in poverty. Subsistence entrepreneurs create value for their customers more effectively than outside entities making them essential to their locale and also for the local economy. These include small scale dairy farmers, grocery stores, fishermen/women etc.

Several areas in India face frequent power cuts. This creates a lot of wastage and fiscal losses. DDSolar is trying to change this with its solar refrigerators. Helping beneficiaries, especially women entrepreneurs gain financial independence; Uplifting them and allowing them to make their own decisions.

Due to low energy costs through solar and reduced wastage of goods, there is an increase in their average monthly income by 7000 to 10,000 rupees.

This excess income helps women educate their children, something they had to sacrifice. They understand the value of education and the opportunities it provides. Imparting education to their children was not possible for them due to their financial status earlier. However, that’s no longer the case now.

Our solutions have also replaced traditional diesel generators reducing pollution and improving the quality of air while reducing exposure to harmful gasses created through combustion.

This customer-centric approach has helped DDSolar improve, empower and uplift our beneficiaries and create a better standard of living for them and their family.
